Herbs for heartbreak
Heartbreak is something we’ve all experienced. It’s a feeling of severe emotional loss.
The pandemic is also something that has impacted many relationships. Spending more time at home has made people think about their relationships and living situations.
If you’re going through a break up or a sense of emotional loss, time is really the best healer. But there are many things you can do to help yourself during this difficult time:
-
One great tip is to start journaling, writing your thoughts down can be a great way to process/let go of your feelings and emotions. It’s also important to allow yourself time to grieve, rather than blocking out the pain by keeping busy.
-
Other self care activities that support the nervous system might include taking a soothing bath with some relaxing salts and essential oils, doing restorative yoga, connecting with friends to talk and doing exercise to increase your endorphins.
-
You can also try herbs that soothe the nervous system, such as chamomile, lavender and ashwaganda. Herbal teas like our Love, Relax and Joy tea blends also include different combinations of calming herbs that can help settle the body and mind.
Herbs for couples
There are some herbs that can help nourish and rejuvenate the whole system to help couples with mood, feelings of connectedness and desire, like ashwagandha and shatavari.
The roots of ashwagandha and shatavari, are both nourishing and grounding. They help us to replenish our vitality and stay grounded, balanced and strong during turbulent times. Often growing on the 'edge' of the world, in jungles, mountains and in extreme climates, these herbs help us 'come back from the edge'. These plants develop special compounds that help them to remain robust and flourish in these challenging environments. These same plant compounds also support our strength and adaptability in the face of stress.
Stress is often a cause of low libido, so by helping us manage stress better, Ashwagandha is a herb that can also help in the bedroom too.
‘Ashwagandha’ is a Sanskrit word which can be translated as ‘essence of a horse’- alluding to the notion that ashwagandha brings you the strength, stamina and grace of a stallion. It's great for supporting resilience and adapting to what life throws at you
'Shatavari' is a traditional Ayurvedic nourishing tonic renowned for supporting women throughout their lives. In fact, its Sanskrit name can be translated as ‘the woman who has a hundred husbands’ as it helps women feel nourished, supported and better able to manage energy levels and feelings of vitality.
Shatavari has an amazing ability to retain moisture in dry soils. It is this quality that gives it its reputation for bringing moisture to the tissues of the reproductive system, keeping it nourishes and able to function well
Pukka Love tea is another great blend to fill your heart with love. Made by Pukka Co Founder Sebatian Pole, for his wife, while on one of their first dates.
