To grow our sustainable and organic seaweed, nori spores are carefully planted onto nets made of woven rope and suspended into calm, shallow bays. The height of each net is carefully fixed so that it remains above the water level during low tide, giving the growing nori maximum sunlight, and below the water level so that the plants receive a regular washing, at high tide.
The delicate nori plants will grow until they cover the entire net. When they are ready to be harvested, they are brought ashore, where they are thoroughly cleaned.
The nori is then ready to be pressed into a thin sheet, which is cut into smaller portions – just like you would expect to see when you buy a packet of nori to make sushi at home. The nori sheets are finally seasoned with sunflower oil and unrefined sea salt and ginger, before being toasted and cut into a delicious bit-sized crispy snack.
